Walking Bus & Staggered Starts
Like many schools, the traffic may become congested around our school entrances at peak times. We work very closely with Cheshire East council, our PCSOs and Civil Enforcement Officers.
To alleviate some of these issues, the school has introduced a ‘staggered start’ to the school day. Our school doors open at 8.45am, enabling children to be welcomed into their classrooms and to get ready to learn. Children may arrive at school anytime between 8.45am-9.00am when the registers will be taken. This window allows parents to have greater flexibility and reduces congestion. Parents and children may enter the school premises using three gates, which are all manned from 8.45am by school staff.
At the end of the school day, our youngest children in Preschool and Reception finish school at 3.10pm, to permit parents to avoid traffic congestion or allow them to collect older children promptly from other areas of the school.
In addition to these measures, the school provides a Walking Bus initiative. Parents may apply for a place and children meet school staff within the drop off point in the car park of The Flying Lady pub, Coleridge Way from 8.20am. At 8.30am, School staff and volunteers walk the children safely to school and take the children to their classes.
At the end of the school day, school staff and volunteers collect the children from their classes and then walk them to the same drop off point in The Flying Lady car park, where parents collect by 3.45pm. Places for the Walking Bus are limited and an application process applies. There is no charge for this service as the school meets any costs incurred.
We would like to thank The Flying Lady pub for permitting the school to use their carpark and to our many volunteers who support school staff in walking the children to and from school. We wouldn’t be able to do this without you.
